Marymatha Major Seminary

          Marymatha- A dream child of Trichur Archdiocese established to form good pastors after His hear (Jeremiah 3 :15) Marymatha fosters a culture of familial love and cordiality.
          Marymatha Major seminary, with the motto: Pastoral Dabo Vobis [I will give you pastors after my own heart – Jer. 3:15], came into existence on May 31, 1998 through the decree [no. 507/98] issued by Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhy, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Trichur.
          The seminary envisions both the philosophical and theological formation, On June 1, 1998 Archbishop Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhy opened the doors of Marymatha Major Seminary for the first batch and thus marked the beginning of the philosophy course, The seminary was formally inaugurated by Mar Varkey Vithayathil, the then Apostolic administrator of the Syro-Malabar Church onAugust 15, 1998. The beginning of the theology course in June 2002 was another milestone in the history of Marymatha.
          The seminary admits candidates from the Archdiocese of Trichur as well as from other dioceses and religious communities. Today the seminary offers a three-year philosophy programme and a four-year theology programme with adequate opportunities for pastoral involvement.
